Designing the Blueprint for Cub Nursery
When Cub Nursery opened its doors in Wetherby, it marked the start of something exciting, the launch of a flagship site designed to set the tone for the brand’s future locations.
From a blank canvas, our brief was to create an interior that supports children’s development, wellbeing and independence while acting as a blueprint for a growing nursery chain.
From the beginning, we wanted to create a space that balances playfulness with calm, somewhere imaginative yet restful.
Taking cues from nature and Scandinavian-inspired simplicity, the palette features soft neutrals, gentle pastels and natural textures, bringing warmth and a sense of ease. Every detail was considered to encourage curiosity, connection and comfort, a place where children can thrive and staff can feel supported.
Every great nursery needs a hub and at Cub, that’s The Den.
Positioned at the heart of the layout, this shared reception and café area brings everyone together. It’s a space where parents can connect over coffee, staff can greet families, and children can see friendly faces before heading into their rooms.
This sense of openness and community was key to the brief, ensuring the design not only looks beautiful but also feels inclusive and functional.
To help Cub grow with consistency, we developed a replicable design strategy that could evolve with each new location.
That included:
Thoughtful space planning for child flow and adult usability
Furniture and finishes built for durability, comfort and everyday use
A detailed specification and drawing pack for smooth handover to contractors
The result? A flexible, scalable concept that can adapt while maintaining Cub’s warm, welcoming identity.
A Blueprint for the Future
The Cub Nursery Wetherby interior now acts as a visual and functional blueprint for the brand’s future, consistent, calm and full of purpose.
As young learners explore, parents pause for a chat, and staff move confidently through the space, we’re reminded why thoughtful design matters most. It shapes how people feel.
We’re so proud to see this concept continue to evolve with Cub’s journey.
