Baird Menswear —

Studio 93 undertook the interior design for Baird Menswear, with Design Tonic fitting out an 8,000 sq ft office space situated in Leeds’ Thorpe Park. The aim was to deliver a modern, functional office environment that would support Baird’s operations while expressing efficiency, quality, and brand integrity.

The brief balanced practicality with identity. Baird needed a workspace that would function flexibly, have ample integrated services (power, storage, tech) and still feel contemporary and considered. The design had to accommodate day-to-day operations without visual clutter, giving staff a calm but cohesive environment.

We opted to embed services and storage invisibly: hidden cabinetry, integrated power solutions, clean joinery. This allowed the architecture and finishes to remain uncluttered, giving breathing space to softer elements. The material palette is pared back, natural timbers, muted tones, refined detailing, structured enough to feel professional, but warm enough not to feel cold. Lighting is layered, giving task, ambient, and accent levels to soften transitions and reduce visual harshness.

Zones were carefully delineated, open desk clusters, meeting rooms, private offices, breakout spaces, all connected by clear circulation. The hidden storage and concealed cabling kept utility under the surface, improving the visual calm of each zone.

While the design does not shout branding overtly, it subtly reinforces Baird’s identity: quality, refinement, understated confidence. The interiors feel intentional, polished, and well resolved, mirroring the menswear business they represent.

The completed office strikes a balance: efficient operations, aesthetic restraint, and human comfort. Users move through clean, cohesive space with little visual distraction, and the built environment quietly supports Baird’s brand values of quality, sophistication, and understated style.
